Stockport-based printer Spectrum Innovations has invested in a Heidelberg Versafire LP as it looks to move forward on its digital journey.

The Versafire LP has met the company’s expectations in terms of performance and functionality, while additional tools within the Prinect workflow supported both front office and production operations, said Heidelberg. The press offers high print quality, consistent output, and compatibility with a range of substrates, with features such as colour measurement and inline registration designed to support accuracy and production efficiency. It also enables quick switching between offset and digital output, including colour adjustments, allowing changes to be made close to production time.

Kath Doran, managing director of Spectrum Innovations, explained that the company has always had Heidelberg presses and after reviewing available options and carrying out testing – which included demonstrations of the machine and the supporting Prinect workflow where the team noted the product’s ease of use and colour management, as well as the efficiency of the Prinect Job Maker and the simpler imposition method – selected the Versafire system to meet its requirements for quality and performance.

Phil Buttress, head of sales of Heidelberg UK, commented: “This new machine provides the company with a great deal of output capacity, and also boosts the range of job types they can offer. This is due to the varied capabilities offered by the Versafire in terms of materials and registers. The Versafire LP can produce up to 4500 A3 sheets per hour and supports a wide array of substrates, including materials up to 470gsm.”

With its ability to maintain precise registration and consistent colour matching, the Versafire can reproduce saved jobs exactly as they were printed previously, significantly speeding up turnaround times, stated Heidelberg. The press allows Spectrum to improve turnaround times while supporting consistent print quality and a wider range of material thicknesses and substrates. Its ability to handle different materials increases the company’s production flexibility and overall capability.

“The investment has created a buzz amongst the team,” said Ms Doran. “There has been a real lift in mood and a sense of optimism; we genuinely have a happier team now.”
