Kolbus UK has been appointed the UK agent for Solema graphic arts automation systems.

Under the new arrangement, Kolbus is now the single point of contact in the UK for sales, service, and spare parts across Solema’s full graphic arts product portfolio. The range includes conveyor systems and end-of-line automation, as well as robotic and cobotic palletising and depalletising solutions, and packing and cartoning equipment for bindery and finishing environments.

Solema has more than 40 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of conveyor systems and automation solutions for binderies worldwide. Its equipment is already well established in the UK market, particularly the Pluton range of automatic palletisers, Omega robotic and cobotic palletiser arms, and box packing and cartoning systems. These solutions are typically used to automate material handling and packing processes at the end of print finishing lines, helping printers to improve efficiency and reduce manual handling.

From its base in Hockliffe, Kolbus UK will provide support for existing Solema installations while also promoting the automation portfolio to new customers in the UK graphic arts sector. The company says the addition of Solema’s automation systems complements the bindery equipment it already represents, enabling it to offer a broader, more integrated proposition to print and finishing businesses.

Commenting on the appointment, Kolbus UK managing director Greg Bird said: “We are excited to be representing Solema graphic arts automation systems. Their equipment dovetails well with the range of bindery equipment we already represent and will enable us to offer a comprehensive sales, service, and spare parts service to UK customers.”

Luca Parsani, managing director of Solema S.p.A, added: “I am sure that with Kolbus’ experience and knowledge of the UK market, our collaboration can only be a success. I can’t wait to start to working alongside Kolbus UK on new UK projects.”

Kolbus said the partnership strengthens its ability to support customers seeking higher levels of automation in bindery and finishing operations, particularly as labour availability and productivity pressures continue to shape investment decisions in the UK print market.
