Kyocera Nixka Inkjet Systems has announced the global launch of its Belharra inkjet photo printer, following a strong reception in Europe and successful testing in live production environments. The move makes the industrial photo printer available to PSPs worldwide, positioning it as an alternative to traditional silver halide photo printing processes.

Designed specifically for professional and high-volume photo printing, Belharra combines Kyocera Nixka’s inkjet technology with industrial system engineering to deliver consistent image quality, productivity and reliability, while placing a strong emphasis on environmental performance.

According to the company, Belharra was developed through extensive discussions with stakeholders across the global photo printing ecosystem, including customers, finishing partners, and paper mills. These inputs were used to shape a system intended to meet real-world operational requirements, with a focus on robustness, flexibility, and ease of integration into demanding production workflows.

Sustainability has been a central element of the system’s development. Belharra uses water-based inks and is designed to reduce energy consumption, physical footprint, and production waste. A recent life-cycle assessment comparing Belharra prints with traditional silver halide processes showed an average 60% reduction in environmental impact, while maintaining print quality and competitive running costs. Kyocera Nixka positions the system as an industrial option for photo printers looking to move away from older chemical-based technologies.

The first Belharra system has already been installed and commissioned in Europe, where it is operating in an industrial production environment. Based on this performance, further installations are planned globally, with systems expected to be deployed across North America and Asia Pacific from early 2026.

“After a highly positive market response in Europe, expanding to the international market was the natural next step. Belharra proves that high-quality photo printing can go hand in hand with sustainability. The technology has demonstrated high reliability and running cost efficiency in true industrial conditions,” said Jean-Marc Pasturel, sales and marketing director at Kyocera Nixka.
