Supreme Graphics, a full-service print provider based in Arcadia, Wisconsin, has become the first company in North America to install Skandacor’s FINISHpro 3D 1623 raised UV inkjet embellishment system. The installation marks Supreme Graphics’ entry into in-house inkjet embellishment and follows the device’s debut at Printing United Expo 2025.

The FINISHpro 3D 1623 attracted attention at the show for being positioned as an inkjet embellishment press priced below $65,000 (£48,000). Designed to handle sheets up to 16 x 23 inches, the system enables the production of raised textures, dimensional spot UV, and digital foil accents, offering printers a route into premium finishing without the higher capital costs traditionally associated with such technologies.

Supreme Graphics CEO Chris Blaschko said affordability was the primary driver behind the investment. “Without a doubt, the biggest factor was the cost. We wanted to expand our embellishment offering. We have been looking at other raised UV-capable devices over the years and found the cost of entry to be prohibitive, so we continued to outsource that part of our business. Now we can bring it in-house at a reasonable price from a reputable vendor whom we already have a positive relationship with.”

By bringing raised UV capabilities in-house, Supreme Graphics aims to add value to existing workflows while reducing reliance on outsourced finishing. The company expects the new system to support a range of applications, including commercial print, direct mail, packaging and specialty products.

“We were already doing a lot of soft-touch laminate and spot foiling,” Mr Blaschko added. “Now we can add spot raised UV to our in-house embellishment mix.”

Skandacor CEO Brad Drever said the installation reflects growing interest from small and mid-sized print service providers looking to differentiate through finishing. “We’re thrilled to see Supreme Graphics lead the charge,” he said. “Their team immediately recognised how the 1623 helps level the playing field – allowing smaller and mid-sized shops to offer the type of premium finishing that wins bigger jobs and builds stronger customer loyalty.”

The FINISHpro 3D 1623 is designed to integrate with Skandacor’s wider finishing portfolio, including its LAMpro laminators and specialty finishing equipment, enabling a modular approach to embellishment. Skandacor reports continued interest in the system following Printing United, as printers look to expand into higher-margin finishing applications while managing capital expenditure.
