Westcolour has invested in its production capabilities with the installation of an HP PageWide Advantage 2200 and the addition of a new 15,000sqft site in Bicester. The move marks a significant step in the company’s plan to broaden its print, packaging, and fulfilment services for customers in the UK and overseas.
Directors of Westcolour Andrew Bowden and James Ward said the decision to partner with HP was aligned with the business’s focus on consistency and reliability. “We’re delighted to partner with HP – an industry leader in print technology,” they commented. “Their innovation aligns perfectly with Westcolour’s commitment to quality, consistency, and reliability. This investment allows us to deliver more value, more creativity, and more flexibility to our customers.”
The PageWide Advantage 2200 brings full in-house digital print capability to the business, supporting personalised production across a range of substrates. It also offers inline UV and aqueous finishing options, including gloss, matt, satin, and grit effects, while enabling high-speed production with reduced waste and shorter make-ready times. The system integrates with Westcolour’s existing mailing, pick-and-pack, and fulfilment services, and is supported by a new roll-to-stack finishing setup.
Westcolour says the combination of digital flexibility and enhanced finishing will help it pursue growth in stationery, greeting cards, direct mail and promotional print, all with the potential for personalisation and premium effects.
“After a challenging few years for the print industry, we’re seeing renewed trust in print as a high-impact channel,” said Mr Bowden. “Our goal is to help our customers delight their audiences with personalised, value-driven print – whether subscriptions, newsstand or direct mail.”
Mr Ward added that the upgrade signals a long-term approach to technology and service development. “This is more than just a technology upgrade – it’s a big move forward of how we serve our customers. We’re excited about the future and proud to be leading the way in print innovation.”
