Print and imaging solutions distributor, Data Direct Thames Valley, has announced the first UK installation of the Mutoh HA-1642 water-based UV printer at its Bradford showroom. The move marks the debut of a new sustainable wide-format technology for the market, said the company.
The Mutoh HydrAton-1642, which uses the proprietary AquaFuze water-based UV ink system, is designed to combine high performance with reduced environmental impact. The printer delivers strong colour vibrancy and durability while lowering odour, energy consumption and emissions compared with conventional solvent or resin-based technologies.
“We’re thrilled to be the first in the UK to showcase this incredible new technology from Mutoh,” said Peter Cowan, COO at Data Direct. “The HA-1642 redefines what’s possible in wide-format printing – combining sustainability, performance, and profitability for the dealer network. We welcome all our partners to see it in action and explore the exciting opportunities it presents.”
The installation further strengthens Data Direct’s partnership with Mutoh, following its appointment as a UK distributor for the brand. The company is supporting its dealer network with demonstrations, training, and commercial assistance from the Bradford facility.
Dealers are being invited to book private demonstrations to see the HA-1642 in operation and assess its capabilities across a range of materials and applications.
Key features of the HydrAton-1642 include a dual printhead design for increased speed, AquaFuze water-based UV technology for low-odour and energy-efficient operation, and high-quality output suitable for indoor, retail, and short-term outdoor use.
