Formara has upgraded its digital print production capabilities with the installation of a Canon imagePress V1350. The new machines replaces the company’s long-serving C10000 press.

The investment increases the company’s average monthly print volume from approximately 450,000 pages on the previous model to 1.2 million pages with the new device. Across all digital presses in operation, Formara now reports a total capacity of roughly 4.53 million impressions per month, running two shifts. This figure does not include its lithographic production.

According to Formara, the Canon V1350 provides improved colour consistency, faster production speeds, and greater media handling flexibility. The device also supports a wider range of materials, including heavier stock and textured substrates, potentially allowing for expanded product offerings.

Managing director Andy Pond said the decision to upgrade was based on operational needs and a customer demand.

“Upgrading our digital production equipment represents an important step forward in meeting the evolving needs of our customers,” Mr Pond said. “After reviewing the available options, we concluded that Canon remains the best fit for our requirements, particularly as we standardise our workflows around Canon’s Prisma RIP software.”

The installation also continues Formara’s long-standing technology partnership with Canon, which has been central to the company’s previous investments in both software and hardware.

Beyond increased productivity, the new press is expected to support Formara’s work in key sectors such as education, finance, public services, and market research. The company also cited improved energy efficiency as part of its broader sustainability goals.

The investment also supports Formara’s recent efforts to expand its use of data-driven and personalised print applications.
