Hollywood Monster has upgraded its production capabilities with the installation of an EFI M3h UV LED hybrid printer, supplied by CMYUK. The new system replaces an older EFI VUTEk HS125 and marks the company’s 14th EFI printer purchase through the supplier.

“The two HS125s have been great printers, and they have worked really hard for us and our clients,” said Simon McKenzie, CEO of Hollywood Monster. “But as we continue to grow, we needed to upgrade. We have consistently chosen EFI technology because they continually push the boundaries of what’s possible whilst also helping us reduce our carbon footprint.”

The Birmingham-based wide format print provider serves a number of global brands, delivering retail, signage, and event graphics. Its latest investment continues a strategy of regular technology updates designed to ensure high-volume, high-quality output within tight deadlines.

The VUTEk M3h, launched earlier this year at Fespa in Berlin, is seen as the successor to EFI’s GS series. Offering reduced energy consumption and increased efficiency, it cuts power usage by more than 75% compared to the HS125, while requiring fewer consumables. Instant on/off UV lamps and a design that reduces ink purging between jobs add to its sustainable and cost-efficient credentials.

Despite its 3.2m print width, the M3h occupies a smaller footprint than its predecessor. It can handle rigid and flexible media up to 5.08cm thick, at speeds of up to 290sqm/hr, with 2400dpi resolution. Features include queue-on-demand functionality, white, and clear coat ink options, and user aids such as automated head cleaning, collision detection, and anti-static systems.

Mr McKenzie added: “The VUTEk M3h supports our diverse print requirements. It delivers superior performance to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of our client base – while reducing environmental impact, to which we are fully committed. This purchase continues our longstanding partnership with CMYUK and EFI, both central to the growth and success of our business.”
