Fiery and Esko have announced the integration of Esko’s Color Engine with the Fiery Impress digital front end (DFE). The arrangement provides a new workflow option for industrial inkjet press manufacturers and packaging converters.
The move allows Fiery Impress to be embedded directly into presses while also supporting Esko’s colour management system, commonly used in packaging workflows.
Toby Weiss, CEO of Fiery, said: “Workflows are key to success for digital industrial printing, especially in complex, variable data-intensive applications like labels and packaging. Print providers need integrated, easy to-use processes that deliver streamlined automation while maximising both power and colour quality.”
The joint solution enables consistent colour reproduction across digital and analogue print environments. With Esko Color Engine now supported, the Fiery Impress DFE can be incorporated into existing Esko-based workflows without requiring major changes to prepress or colour setup. This ensures brand colour consistency from design through to final print, regardless of the printing method used.
For industrial press manufacturers, the integration provides an option to offer presses that are compatible with both Fiery and Esko colour workflows. The Fiery Impress platform supports high-speed processing of complex variable data jobs and offers automation features that scale with production needs. It also integrates with JDF-based systems, enabling compatibility with a range of print environments.
Designed for rapid implementation, the Fiery Impress DFE supports faster development cycles for new press designs. Fiery claims that it is currently the only DFE on the market that offers full integration with Esko Color Engine, positioning it as a solution for manufacturers looking to streamline integration with packaging workflows already using Esko tools.
Andreas Goehring, director of professional imaging at Epson America, commented: “Industrial printing is a key growth area of digital print, particularly with applications like labels and packaging. This partnership between Fiery and Esko to integrate Esko Color Engine with the Fiery Impress DFE is a great development that not only delivers the colour and performance results that make industrial print customers happy, but will also offer a more streamlined solution for industrial press manufacturers to offer innovative new presses to markets around the world.”
