Kall Kwik’s Welwyn Garden City branch has expanded its offering with the installation of a Fujifilm Revoria EC2100S, a five-colour toner production press aimed at enhancing print quality and versatility.
The investment is the latest in a series of equipment upgrades made by owner Phil Beverley, who joined the business in 2012 and acquired it in 2018. Originally founded in the late 1970s, Kall Kwik was established to meet the growing demand for quick-turnaround print services for small businesses and individual customers.
“We’d been exploring options to replace our previous toner press for some time,” Mr Beverley said. “After testing the Revoria EC2100S at Fujifilm’s demo centre in Luton, and with guidance from Will Doherty at Digital Printing Systems UK, we felt it was the right fit for our business.”
According to Mr Beverley, a key factor in the decision was the press’s fifth colour channel, which allows for greater flexibility in achieving a wider colour gamut, including certain Pantone colours not easily reproducible with standard CMYK. The machine also supports additional toners, such as pink, and future support for silver and white, which Kall Kwik sees as valuable for applications like wedding stationery and fine art prints.
“The ability to use pink toner has immediate benefits for our colour accuracy,” Mr Beverley noted. “And once silver becomes available, we expect to offer more cost-effective alternatives to foil for certain products.”
Kall Kwik plans to use the press for short-run booklets, image-heavy publications, and fine art prints – potentially shifting some production away from inkjet systems. Beverley described the Revoria EC2100S as a long-term investment aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
Fujifilm’s Andy Kent, general manager of graphic systems UK, said: “Our new EC2100S and SC285S presses are designed to make five-colour printing more accessible. Kall Kwik is well positioned to take advantage of these capabilities, and we’re pleased to be supporting them.”
