Toppan Forms, one of Japan’s largest business forms and data printing services, has acquired its fourth Kodak Prosper 5000XL inkjet colour web press. Last year it installed the first three 5000XL presses as the primary technology to drive growth in its educational book printing division and expansion into new markets.

‘Over the past several months, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in both jobs and volumes – spanning a number of applications – that are produced on the Prosper 5000XL Press,’ said Toshiro Masuda, senior managing director. ‘Our existing presses have been running at full production, and the addition of a fourth Prosper 5000XL Press will enable us to continue our path of steady growth and best serve our customers across multiple markets.’

Toppan Forms uses the inkjet web presses as part of its personalised solution for the Japanese education publishing market. The system allows print buyers to use a fully digital workflow to cost effectively and efficiently move orders from client to completion. The presses are also allowing it to offer new capabilities and services in high-speed variable-data printing.

‘Toppan Forms is an innovative company known for its breakthrough technologies and product offerings,’ said Lois Lebegue, Kodak’s vice president of commercial and consumer sales, Asia Pacific region. ‘We look forward to partnering with Toppan Forms as it brings new applications that are best delivered by the Prosper 5000XL Press to its customers.’

Hiroshi Fujiwara, managing director of Kodak Japan, said: ‘The purchase of a fourth Prosper 5000XL Press indicates the success Toppan Forms has experienced with its current business model; Toppan Forms has become a new printing industry case study of growth through high-speed variable printing. I’m very proud of the trust Toppan Forms has placed in Kodak.’
