Paper maker Arjowiggins Graphic teamed up with supplier Antalis McNaughton to help to break a Guinness World Record at the Young Carers Festival 2012 last weekend.

Taking place between Friday 29 June and Sunday 1 July, the festival saw the two companies team up with young carers trying to break the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people wearing paper hats at a single venue.

The festival, jointly organised by The Children’s Society and YMCA Fairthorne Manor in Southampton, provides young carers throughout the UK with a weekend of fun and friendship, giving them the opportunity to take a break from their responsibilities.

Antalis McNaughton donated CyclusOffset 350 g/m2 100% recycled paper to make, in total, 802 paper hats for participants to wear for 10 minutes in order to break the Guinness World Record. The previous record was for 390 hats, achieved in November 2011 by South Worcestershire College in Evesham0.

Angela De Vorchik, operational marketing manager at Arjowiggins Graphic, said: ‘We are very much looking forward to attempting to break the Guinness World Record at the Young Carers Festival. We hope that the attempt brings an added element of fun to the festival’s Closing Ceremony and gives the inspirational young carers the chance to be a part of Guinness World Record history.’

CyclusOffset is a 100% recycled uncoated, natural white offset paper with excellent opacity, which offers an unrivalled print finish.

The companies are now awaiting verification from Guinness World Records.
