Imprint Business Systems has become the latest print industry manufacturer to invest in the sector’s heritage by becoming a Print Heritage Partner of St Bride Foundation. The MIS provider’s generosity will help the institution to continue to protect and develop one of the world’s rarest and largest archives of print, media and communications.
The software manufacturer will also use St Bride Foundation’s facilities to host its ownOpen Day on 10 September, including a grand tour of the building and the contents of its library, which stretch back to the genesis of print and media.
As well as helping to conserve the vast repository of the past, present and future of communications, Imprint’s support will allow St Bride Foundation to continue the massive task of restoring and revitalising this unique landmark. Established in 1891 by philanthropists seeking to support the emergent printing and publishing community, the unusual, charismatic Fleet Street location contains a vast library accessible to the public, a theatre space, a printing workshop and a conference and events space for charities, companies and the local community.
‘The contents of St Bride Foundation are truly an amazing reflection of the history of print,’ said Glennys Bourne, director, Imprint Business Systems. ‘We hope that other companies will agree that this fantastic resource must be preserved and evolved, and join us in this initiative.’
Glyn Farrow, chief executive of St Bride Foundation added: ‘Every contribution is essential, and we praise Glennys’s vision in joining the Print Heritage Partner programme.’
Established in 1891, St Bride Foundation is a charitable institution that was originally intended to meet the educational, cultural and social needs of the area’s burgeoning print industry. It is now home to one of the most significant collections of typography and historical printed reference in the world, housed in the St Bride Printing Library. Its Print Heritage Partner programme makes it simple to make a tax-deductible payment.
