The Kolbus DA 260 Casemaker
Screaming Colour has invested in new Kolbus kit to further enhance its specialist high end presentation box manufacture.
The top specification Kolbus DA 260 Casemaker to be installed at the company’s Slough finishing plant will be a first for the UK packaging market along with the first UK installation of a Kolbus NM 100 Grooving Machine.
Greg Bird, Kolbus UK sales manager, said, ‘The DA 260 and the NM 100 router have attracted a lot of interest in the UK packaging market. It is pleasing to be installing these first machines at Screaming Colour who specialise in high quality packaging with very fast turnarounds, two of the key areas that this kit is designed for.’
After the evaluation process the company upped the specification of the basic machine to give them the added capacity to be able to produce cases with up to seven board components, specifically to enable them to produce high quality presentation boxes.
With so many customers demanding short runs, make-ready times were a critical factor.
This was also where the Kolbus NM 100 grooving machine came into its own. By routing grooves in the material and using one piece of board instead of up to seven individual pieces boxes have crisp corners and a solid precision finish.
Iain Moring, screaming colour Managing director, said, ‘During our evaluation of the various equipment alternatives we were particularly impressed by the superb engineering quality we saw at Kolbus and the reliability of the machines that we saw running. Their attention to detail and customer support made for a combined package that very much mirrors our own. With the build quality and quick set-up of the DA 260 we can produce both short run digital case bound books and longer litho runs, along with high end presentation boxes.’
