The reprographics team at Gosport Borough Council has updated and expanded its finishing capabilities with an investment in a suite of new post-press products.

This latest investment, much of which is replacing products up to 15 years old, has included the purchase of a System 2000S bookletmaker, a DocuFold Pro, and AutoCreaser Pro 33, and a MultiNak S twin-headed stapler, all from Morgana Systems Ltd.

‘These latest purchases will help our team be even more productive,’ said Graeme Jesty, reprographics team leader. ‘The System 2000S bookletmaker offers significant advantages over our previous kit, and will help us to take days off the production time of our quarterly newsletter – a publication distributed to all residents in the Borough. It will allow us to finish the product some three times quicker, as well as meaning that we can be significantly more efficient on other work.’

The System 2000S is capable of producing booklets of up to 120 pages. It can be equipped with a hybrid feeder capable of feeding pre-collated sets from Gosport’s digital print engine or collating litho printed sections as produced on its Presstek 34DI four colour printing solution. The System 2000S can even combine both types of print into a finished book product. The heavy-duty bookletmaking section comes complete with ISP or Honner wire stitching heads, fore-edge trimmer, and the Morgana Squarefold 2000, to give a professional perfect bound effect to the finished product.

Reprographics at Gosport Borough Council is also producing work for a number of neighbouring Local Authorities in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. ‘We don’t outsource work – we aim to produce all of the Councils print needs in-house. Our efficient production methods have attracted work from other Local Authorities, enabling us to be even more cost effective, and also allowing us to invest in more efficient equipment,’ commented Mr Jesty.

He added, ‘We have, of course, used and viewed other products, but Morgana machinery fits the bill for us. It is compact – space for in-plant print shops is always an issue – and it provides both speed and reliability. When service is needed, the response is always excellent, as you would expect from a brand leader.’

The recently enhanced DocuFold Pro and AutoCreaser Pro products have also impressed. ‘The touch-screen technology incorporated into the Morgana range makes operating the systems really easy and straightforward. They are fast to set-up and perform swiftly once up and running: you can’t ask for more than that,’ concluded Mr Jesty.
