The December issue of Digital Printer will use Ricoh’s Clickable Paper technology to show readers how they can make print interactive.
By simply downloading the free Clickable Paper app, readers can turn their smart phones into a scanner that will pick up the invisible coding on the front cover of Digital Printer’s December issue.
Once the code has been recognised by a smart phone it will take the user online, and facilitating a connection between print and the online world.
This technology can add another dimension to the products they create, and another opportunity to add value to what they offer their customers. When used in a marketing mix the technology can provide a cross media effect.
Julian Barnwell, managing director of Barnwell Print in Norfolk, trialled the technology last year, he said, ‘When we saw Ricoh’s Clickable Paper solution last year, we immediately recognised its enormous potential. It is a far more intelligent and dynamic product than QR technology and moves the interactivity proposition on several steps from QR codes.’
Unlike QR codes, the Clickable Paper ‘trigger’ is completely invisible and does not disturb the artwork it is used in, meaning it will not interfere with the work designers produce.
