Owner of UK digital finishing specialist Morgana Systems, The Plockmatic Group, has completed the purchase of KGS, manufacturer of PUR binders.
KGS has manufactured and supplied a range of PUR binders to Morgana Systems for five years. For the last two years, Morgana has been the company’s only customer, taking 100% of the company’s production, with the units being sold under the Morgana brand as the DigiBook range of PUR binders.
The business was formed in 2010 by ex-Heidelberg employees to design and manufacture closed tank PUR binders. The closed tank technology gives users the ability to manufacture small runs of books ‘on demand’ while keeping start up times and glue wastage to a minimum.
Commenting on the acquisition of KGS, Ray Hillhouse, vice president of sales and marketing for Morgana, said, ‘We have been selling the KGS manufactured products for several years now and have seen the market grow significantly over that time. We have taken the total production from the factory for the last two years, selling PUR binding products throughout the world, and now need to increase production to meet the continually growing demand from new and expanding markets.
He concluded, ‘Owning the company will allow our expertise in supply chain and production to help KGS grow, while simultaneously reducing costs. Savings will be directly passed on to our customers and dealers.’
