Two Sides Europe has appointed Josh Birch as managing director, effective from 1 January 2027, succeeding Jonathan Tame after 12 years in the role.

Mr Birch has worked with Two Sides for more than six years and currently serves as marketing manager. During that time, he has been involved in developing the organisation’s communications, research and member engagement, as well as its Two Sides and Love Paper campaigns.

Mr Tame has led Two Sides since 2014, during which time the organisation has developed its activities across Europe and North and South America, promoting the sustainability credentials of print, paper and paper-based packaging.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Birch said: “I am incredibly honoured to become Managing Director and to build on the exceptional work Jonathan has led over the past 12 years.

“Two Sides has an exciting opportunity to strengthen the support and value we provide to members, expand our reach into new European markets and make factual, evidence-based information about print, paper and paper-based packaging more widely accessible.

“Our new AI-enabled multilingual communications platform will allow us to engage directly with audiences across Europe on a scale that has not previously been possible. Alongside this, we will continue to develop our research, resources, advocacy and member services. Our industry has an extremely positive story to tell, and I am excited to lead the next stage of Two Sides’ development.”

Mr Tame commented: “Josh has been an integral part of Two Sides for many years and has made a significant contribution to its success. His knowledge of our campaigns, creative experience and commitment to our members make him the ideal person to take the organisation forward.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time with Two Sides and am proud of everything the organisation and its members have achieved. I am delighted to be handing over to someone who has clearly demonstrated that he is ready for the role, and I have every confidence that Two Sides will continue to grow and flourish under Josh’s leadership.”

Martyn Eustace, chair of Two Sides, said Mr Birch would lead the organisation’s next phase, including the launch of its multilingual European digital platform, an enhanced membership proposition and further expansion into markets where local activity has previously been limited.
