Leeds-based Zebra Print Group has supported the preservation of a historic Bradford cemetery by producing a new visitor guide and map for Friends of Chapel Street Cemetery ahead of a community open day.

The print company produced 250 copies of a bespoke A4 gate-fold leaflet designed to help visitors explore the cemetery while learning about its history, notable features and ongoing preservation work.

Printed on 120gsm uncoated stock using a Xerox digital press, the guide combines historical information, visitor advice and a detailed directional map to provide an accessible resource for both first-time visitors and existing supporters of the cemetery.

The project came about through a personal connection, with the leaflet designed by the son of one of the cemetery’s volunteers. Having previously worked with Zebra Print Group, he recommended the company after positive experiences with its quality, service and attention to detail.

Friends of Chapel Street Cemetery commissioned the guide to support an open day intended to attract visitors, volunteers and fundraising support for the historic site.

Chris Ellis, key account executive at Zebra Print Group, said: “This was a relatively straightforward project from a production perspective, but one that carried a lot of meaning for the people involved.

“The artwork had already been created by the son of one of the cemetery volunteers, so our role was to make sure the finished piece looked professional and was ready in time for the open day.

“We carried out our usual pre-press checks, printed the leaflets digitally on our Xerox press, folded them into the gate-fold format and packed them ready for collection. It’s always rewarding to support local community projects, especially those helping to preserve local heritage and encourage more volunteers to get involved.”

The project was delivered by Mr Ellis and printer Owen Gamble, who managed the production process from pre-press checks through to printing, finishing and packing.

Although the print run was relatively small, Zebra Print Group worked to a tight deadline to ensure the guides were ready for the open day, with the volunteer team and printer working together to move the artwork quickly through production.

Friends of Chapel Street Cemetery said: “The Friends of Chapel Street Cemetery would like to express our sincere thanks for your generous donation of the printing of our new guide. This contribution will help us to encourage visitors and to share its history and heritage with the wider community.”

The company said the project reflects its ongoing support for local organisations, charities and community initiatives across Yorkshire.
