Digital Creative Services (DCS), a print business based in London, has become the first company in the UK to install the HP Latex R530 hybrid printer. The investment is part of the company’s wider effort to meet growing customer demand for sustainable print solutions.
Founded in 2020 and run by managing director Barry Page and co-owner Dave Gibbons, DCS provides both digital and lithographic printing services. Its clients range from global beauty brands and financial firms to schools and sports organisations. In recent years, DCS has expanded by acquiring other businesses and investing in new technology to broaden its capabilities.
The HP Latex R530, installed in April 2025 and supplied by HP distributor Papergraphics, is designed to handle both rigid and flexible media. It prints at speeds up to 24sqm/hr in indoor mode and supports materials up to 1.6m wide and 5cm thick. It also has a print resolution of up to 1200 x 600dpi. DCS opted for a model with white ink support to increase versatility.
The printer can be used for applications including signage, wall coverings, vehicle graphics, and packaging. Features like automatic ink recirculation and an integrated touchscreen interface improve operational efficiency, while HP’s PrintOS system allows remote monitoring and workflow management.
One of the key reasons DCS chose the R530 is its use of water-based latex inks, which are less harmful to the environment than solvent-based alternatives. Mr Page said the purchase aligns with the company’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification and its efforts to support clients’ sustainability goals.
“The decision was partly driven by our clients’ need to meet environmental targets, and by our commitment to investing in environmentally responsible technology,” said Mr Page.
Initially, the printer will be used to produce freestanding exhibition display boards – an area DCS has identified as a growth market. It will also support demand for items like office décor and window graphics.
Looking ahead, Mr Page said that if the company meets its performance targets over the next year, it may invest in additional HP Latex equipment to further enhance capacity.
