Retail outlets across Europe are installing protective shielding
Perspex International has increased the production of its clear acrylic in order to meet the unprecedented demand for protective screens brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The company’s acrylic screens are wanted across the UK and Europe as retail outlets and general public areas look to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.
Bryan Welch, operations director at Perspex International explained, ‘As a UK manufacturer, we believe we have an obligation to meet this demand where possible and therefore we acted immediately to increase production to meet the urgent requirements.
‘Achieving the production volumes required in such a short time period has required the business to quickly implement new manufacturing methods and practical working changes.’
Specifically the company has changed its production schedule to prioritise production of its clear acrylic sheets, it has repurposed production lines used for bathroom and coloured products as well as altering shift patterns to allow for greater production capability.
As a result of the changes production of Perspex clear acrylic sheet has now increased by 300% compared to the same time last month.
